| Shocking Almost-Relevant Player Arrest! Posted: 09 May 2008 08:50 PM CDT Three or four hours ago, we became aware of a story that had ex-Browns player Dyshod Carter arrested for cocaine trafficking out in Arizona. I sort of shrugged my shoulders and went back to what I was doing, figuring that no one really cares about the allegedly illegal exploits of a marginal ex-Browns player who never made a serious mark in this town. Well, it turns out WKYC-3 cares so much that they'll tailor a special headline. Frankly, it seems like more of an Action 19 Tabloid Headline Action News story to me. Wait for them to tease the "shocking story of an ex-Browns player's arrest" at the top of the news and then deflate you with a semi-anonymous name around 11:25 PM. Hopefully, I've saved some of you wasted minutes of suspense. No charge. All of which shows that my news sense is even worse than expected. If the local TV folks care, I guess we should care. So there you go, a blog entry on Dyshod Carter getting busted. I have to watch any tendency to be snarky on this, as Carter apparently had an AK-47 assault rifle in his car. Yikes. I hope it's all a big misunderstanding, but it's hard to misinterpret an AK-47. In not-quite-related player news, the Packers have dumped Koren Robinson. No, I don't see him wearing brown and orange anytime soon, but we do need a fourth receiver, so the topic may come up. Here's the press release from the Land o' Cheeseheads: May 9, 2008 |
