| Posted: 05 Dec 2007 09:51 PM CST ROSTER MOVE: As we reported this morning, the Browns made a roster move today, assigning LB Kris Griffin to the team's Injured Reserve listing and Colby Bockwoldt has been added to the roster page.
Of course, we reported this news again this afternoon, and again now. Because how often, really, are you going to be able to report that a guy name Colby Bockwoldt is added to your roster? Team sites like ours dream of that sort of stuff. And Doug Dieken has nightmares about it... odds that he refers to the new linebacker as "bratwurst" at least once next Sunday are at 2-1 and falling. INJURY UPDATE: Both the Browns and Jets have a bunch of players on their injury lists. For the Browns, Simon Fraser (illness), Steve Heiden (ankle), David McMillan (knee), Antwan Peek(knee), Orpheus Roye(knee), Kevin Shaffer (knee), and Robaire Smith (neck) didn't participate in practice today. Ethan Kelley (knee) and Eric Wright (knee) participated on a limited basis. For the Jets WR Jerricho Cotchery (finger) didn't participate. WR Laveranues Coles (Ankle), TE James Dearth (Foot), C Nick Mangold (Calf), and DL Dewanye Robertson (knee) were limited. TE Chris Baker, WR Chris David, TE Joe Kowalewski, WR Brad Smith, and WR Wallace Wright are listed on the Jets injury report, but did the full practice for the Jets. Today's injury report has been uploaded to the Muni Lot in PDF format if you want to download it and check it out. Click here. TRANSCRIPTS: We have a ton of interview transcripts available in the ATI forum today:

FROM THE BLOGOSPHERE The blogosphere kicked into action this afternoon and evening, even if a lot of the activity is around the Cavaliers and the Tribe seemingly getting knocked backwards in next year's AL Central by the Tigers. Browns-related blogs are listed first. Time for Tim to go? - Mark Leonard Tigers' deal - Mark Leonard (Indians)
OUT OF THE TUBES Stuff that might be related to football. Or might not be. At least the Baltimore Sun's Mike Preston seems to be willing to say what not many others will say... the Ravens are a team with talented players who are immature and undisciplined. It's a reflection on their coach, who occupied himself blowing sarcastic kisses to an opposing player while his charges threw tantrums all around him. As Browns fans, I'm sure most of us hope Billick returns for another year. Speaking of head coaches who shouldn't be purchasing green bananas, two of the five most disappointing teams in the NFL (according to Fox) are located in the AFC North. Fear that a video game website might have compromised by pressure from advertisers has web detectives digging through cached versions of articles to see if changes had been made. | ||
| Posted: 05 Dec 2007 09:30 AM CST FROM THE NEWSWIRE Inside linebacker Andra Davis takes it on the chin today from both bloggers and the media for suggesting that playoff and other hype may have taken the Browns off of their game. Maybe there's some validity in that. Unfortunately, the only way to really test it is to lose to the Jets on Sunday and really wipe out the hype. The Jets, however, are a struggling team despite importing a savior from the Patriots organization, and the Browns go into their second-straight away game as favorites over Eric Mangini's crew. These stories dominate the newswire today. Look for some articles early this afternoon, including coverage of today's session in Berea from the OBR. ELSEWHERE ON THE WEB Stuff that might be related to football. Or might not be. FAU VS. MEMPHIS IS THE STUFF OF LEGEND: Here's one writer's rankings of the college bowl games from best to worst. All 32 of them. GOOD LUCK, TRIBE: In my eyes, the deal of Willis and Cabrera to the Tigers is just further proof that major league baseball is irretrievably broken. We can all come up with things about the NFL that we would like to change, but at least it's a sport where every team has a chance of competing. BRISTOL BASHING: "Everyone hates our 12-0 team! Even those nasty people at ESPN!" Give it a rest, Boston fan... Speaking of our friends in Bristol, here's another take on how their investment in the current bowl system could be slanting the coverage of its problems... MAKE MONEY FAST!!! RUN A SPORTS WEBSITE! For those wondering why the NFL is so restrictive about what independent websites can do, check this out. Major League Baseball parleyed a $5 million per-team investment in official team web sites into a $5 billion valuation in seven years. Not bad, folks. Wow, with that sort of return, and my sports web site expertise, I should be able to land a gig that matches the value I bring to bear. Let's see... (gets out calculator, punches buttons madly)... carry the five... wait... got it: $12.95 a month. That's at least $36.50 if I some basic lawn maintenance as well. Sweet. |
